Earning a few quid on the side?

A friend of mine got me thinking. Earning money on the side of your 9 to 5. You require extra skills, and they need to be good enough to build even a tiny business on. I like mobile technology, but am I good enough at it to start something? And what would that be in that case? I enjoy taking photos, but my shutter finger is too green to take professional, sellable photos.

This discussion was quite serious, at least I felt the seriousness in it. My friend said, quite correctly, that sometimes you need to spend money to earn money. He has built up, as far as I've understood, quite a nice little side buisness in photography. My view of the matter is that yes, you can take a loan to invest in equipment to start up a side business, but you need somewhat of a stability before you can take said loan, no? Something to fall back on if it all goes belly up, and not end up in debt?

Now, this little technology freak within me has surfaced a bit more than before.. I enjoy technology, and I feel I know more than the general Smith. I like Android and know my way around Windows and Windows Phone. Where do I turn to start this? There are 13 tech blogs a dozen out there, and even more Facebook groups that spam official manufacturers sites with ”Like my site” messages. Some of these I find very helpful, whilst some just seem to be gathering likes rather than help people. Have I got what it takes to put myself up there with the real guys, or would I get stressed out as it's what I do for a living as well?

I have a very limited access to material, though. All other brands and manufacturers than one would be closer to a guessing game than knowledge. But I guess that is where everybody starts? I need to make myself visible, don't I? I already show my knowledge to friends on Facebook. Or shove it in their faces where ever I get the chance, more like.

Here I am, a tech freak who likes to explain features and teach people how to use their electronic devices and gadgets. Any takers?
